Is Ashwagandha Good for Skin?
Abstract Summary Objective To determine whether ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) benefits skin health through clinical and mechanistic evidence. Context Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic adaptogen used for over 3,000 years. Its anti-inflammatory and cortisol-lowering properties have sparked growing clinical interest in dermatological applications, including skin aging, barrier repair, and inflammatory skin conditions. Methods Used Approach Narrative review of randomized controlled trials, in vitro keratinocyte studies, and in vivo models evaluating topical and oral ashwagandha.
