Abstract Summary
Objective: This study evaluates the effectiveness of KM-66 Ashwagandha in modulating cortisol and thyroid hormone levels in adults with subclinical hypothyroidism and stress-related hormonal imbalances.
Context: Dysregulation of cortisol and thyroid hormones often coexist, contributing to fatigue, weight gain, and mood disturbances. KM-66 Ashwagandha may enhance endocrine function by supporting the HPA axis and thyroid gland activity.
Methods Used
Approach: A 10-week, randomized, double-blind trial was conducted with participants aged 25–55 who exhibited stress-related hormonal imbalances. Participants received 600 mg of KM-66 Ashwagandha extract or a placebo daily.
Data Collection: Primary outcomes measured were cortisol, free T3, free T4, and TSH levels. Secondary measures included the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and energy/mood assessments via a validated questionnaire.
Researchers' Summary of Findings
Impact on Health: KM-66 Ashwagandha supplementation resulted in a 28% decrease in cortisol levels and a significant improvement in thyroid hormone levels (increased free T3 and T4, and reduced TSH). Participants reported improved energy, mood, and stress resilience.
Health Implications: KM-66 Ashwagandha may provide dual benefits for stress-related cortisol dysregulation and thyroid hormone optimization, offering a holistic approach to managing hormonal imbalances.
